My Favorite Song

Stardust

(Carmichael-Parish)

And now the purple dust of twilight time
Steals across the meadows of my heart
Now the little stars, the little stars pine
Always reminding me that we're apart
You wander down the lane and far away
Leaving me a love that cannot die
Love is now the stardust of yesterday
The music of the years gone by.

Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely nights
Dreaming of a song
That melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you
When our love was new
And each kiss an inspiration
Ah, but that was long ago
Now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song

Beside a garden wall
Where stars are bright
You are in my arms
That nightingale tells its fairy tale
of paradise where roses grew
Though I dream in vain
In my heart it will remain
my stardust melody
The memory of love's refrain.

The inspriration for my handle comes from several different things...

1. My favorite song is Stardust. When i was a little girl my mother had a wind-up music box that played Stardust and I wore the thing out! I am now searching for a new music box that plays Stardust but haven't found one yet.

2. I am very interested in space and the universe, space exploration, etc.

3. When I was going back to school I took an astronomy course for one of my elective sciences and learned about how all things are formed of "stardust"...remnants of exploded stars...and then we learned how the sun one day will turn into a supernova and how it will explode and engulf nearby planets, turning earth to "stardust"...then the exploded star will close in upon itself and then one day be "reborn" as a new baby star with the leftover dust. I thought that was the coolest thing I ever heard!

1954 is the year I was born.
